Position Summary

DSI Tech is currently seeking Junior Network Engineer to support our expanding IT implementation team. The position is based in Garland, Texas. As the Jr. Network Engineer, you are responsible for the implementation of our customer’s CISCO Security, Voice, Wireless, Data Center, and/or Routing & Switching solutions. You will be assigned to a specific discipline and implement these solutions at client sites. The role will require you to be prepared for 40% travel time, including 10% overnight stays, and the remaining 30% will consist of day trips.

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist in the configuration of computer hardware and networks.
  • Physically remove old routers and switches and install new ones.
  • Assist Senior Network Engineers with daily position duties as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 50 – 60 pounds regularly.
  • Assembles and compiles basic data for reports or presentations as scheduled or requested.
  • Provide on-the-job training as needed.
  • Report any problems to the supervisor.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information processed, as appropriate.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work under the stress of maintaining proper liaison between department heads, Managers, Temporary Employees, and customers.
  • Ability to exchange information clearly and concisely and to present ideas, report facts, and other information.
  • Understand the consequences of various situations and make appropriate individuals aware of the same for decision-making.
  • Manage own workflow and address questions and problems with supervisor.
  • Meet attendance standards.
  • Possess excellent knowledge of PC/Word processing and data management skills.
  • Have good communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Understand and follow safety and security practices.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications / Skills / Knowledge

  • Possess a CCNA or are working toward certification. NOTE: CCNA is preferred over working toward the certification.
  • Hold a CCENT and are working towards your CCNA.
  • A Bachelor’s Tech degree from a 4-year accredited University or College in fields such as Technology, Electronics and Communication, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science OR you possess an Associate’s degree in a related technical field.
  • Six (6) months to 1 year experience in a Network Technician role.
  • Dynamic personality with the ability to establish and maintain rapport with customers at both business and technical levels.
  • Excellent communication in English. This includes:
    • Verbal Communications
    • Written Documentation
  • Comfortable working in a demanding environment with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Strong team player with exceptional customer service and communication abilities.
  • Sense of humor and enjoys working in a team-oriented office environment.
