Programme Manager – Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Contract/Freelance – Hybrid – Brussels
3 days per week on-site | 12-month initial contract (option to go permanent or continue as contractor)
About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Programme Manager (Artificial Intelligence) to lead and coordinate a portfolio of AI-driven initiatives in Brussels. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver transformative AI programmes that drive innovation, efficiency, and strategic growth.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, business leaders, and technical experts, you’ll ensure alignment between AI strategy and execution—balancing strategic oversight with hands-on project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
As a Programme Manager, you’ll make an impact by:
- Leading a group of interrelated AI and technology projects that contribute to a shared strategic objective, ensuring successful delivery within scope, time, and budget.
- Taking ownership of selected initiatives—driving them from concept through to delivery.
- Guiding and coordinating cross-functional teams, ensuring collaboration between data scientists, engineers, and business units.
- Managing stakeholder communication, engagement, and alignment throughout the programme lifecycle.
- Proactively identifying and mitigating risks, while driving organisational change and adoption of AI-driven solutions.
- Ensuring quality assurance and adherence to governance standards and delivery frameworks.
- Applying agile methodologies and promoting continuous improvement across delivery teams.
About You
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Have a proven track record in senior project or programme management roles within complex, technology-driven organisations—ideally with exposure to AI, data analytics, or digital transformation.
- Are equally comfortable with strategic oversight and hands-on delivery, managing both the big picture and the finer details.
- Possess strong technical affinity, and can confidently communicate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and technical experts.
- Have demonstrated experience establishing governance frameworks, delivery standards, and project implementation models.
- Are proficient with project management methodologies and tools, with experience leading both Agile and Waterfall projects.
- Are an influential communicator who inspires collaboration across diverse teams.
- Hold a degree or certification in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline (PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certifications are advantageous).
- Are fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a plus.
