On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Senior Java Developer to work on a major European white-label payment solution. The role covers both Android application development and maintenance of a large-scale legacy Java gateway (over one million lines of code) that powers in-store payment terminals across Europe.

This is a technically challenging and fast-paced position requiring strong Java expertise, deep understanding of complex systems, and flawless English communication.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Android applications written in Java
• Support and enhance a large legacy Java gateway that connects with retail payment terminals
• Implement and optimize payment flows and integrations
• Troubleshoot, debug, and improve performance of critical systems
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in daily standups
• Deliver results within tight deadlines and under high expectations

Requirements:

• Excellent command of Java (both Android and backend)
• Experience with Android app development and gateway/back-end systems
• Strong understanding of payment industry standards (ISO 8583, EMV, payment terminals, etc.)
• Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment
• Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
• Team player with professional discipline and reliability

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of REST APIs and integration with payment processors
• Experience with white-label or multi-tenant architecture
• Familiarity with POS devices, retail transaction systems, or financial software
