What you`ll do
Summary
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to build intuitive in-product onboarding and guidance experiences that drive user adoption across SAP LeanIX. You’ll work with product, UX and engineering to deliver backend services, data pipelines and AI-enhanced features that make the product easier to adopt and more valuable to customers.
The Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer you will design, implement and maintain backend services that power onboarding use cases and in-product guidance. You will own database design and query optimization, craft APIs and event-driven integrations, and help shape the platform architecture. Working closely with product managers and UX designers, you will translate user needs into technical solutions, implement testing and observability best practices, and iterate on the experience using analytics and user feedback. You will also explore and integrate generative AI capabilities to enhance personalized onboarding and automate guidance where valuable. Regular participation in code reviews, architecture discussions and cross-team collaboration will be part of your role.

What You Bring
- Backend development experience with proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java
- Proven experience designing and working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
- Experience with cloud platforms and microservices-based architectures
- Solid knowledge of API design, event-driven architectures and event streaming
- Practical experience with testing, monitoring/observability and CI/CD practices
- Strong communicator with a product mindset who can work independently and in cross-functional teams
