Our client, a multinational information technology services and consulting company, is searching for a L2 RAN Engineer to join their project in Romania.

Responsibilities:
Second-line Support & Troubleshooting:
- Handle escalated incidents and problems from L1 engineers, providing advanced troubleshooting across multi-vendor RAN equipment.
- Perform root cause analysis and drive permanent solutions to recurring network issues.
- Work with vendors and engineering teams on critical fault resolution and performance issues.
Performance & Optimization:
- Analyze network KPIs and provide recommendations for performance improvements.
- Conduct proactive health checks, capacity monitoring, and optimization of RAN nodes.
- Support tuning and optimization of 2G/3G/4G/5G features and parameters.
- Change and Configuration Management:
- Review and validate planned changes, ensuring minimal service impact.
- Perform and verify advanced configuration updates, software upgrades, and feature activations.
- Support automation initiatives and scripts for efficiency in operations.
Problem Management:
- Lead root cause investigations and create detailed technical reports.
- Identify trends in recurring faults and propose long-term network improvements.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to L1 engineers.
- Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and knowledge base development.
- Act as a bridge between NOC operations, field teams, engineering, and vendor support.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or
- equivalent.
- Experience in 24x7 operational environments.
- Strong understanding of SLAs, KPIs, and operational excellence.
- English (B2+ level minimum); German is a plus.
- 4–6 years of experience in RAN operations, with at least 2 years at L2 level or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of mobile network architecture, including 2G/3G/4G/5G technologies.
- Hands-on experience with multi-vendor RAN systems (Nokia, Huawei, Ericsson, etc.).
- Proficient in handling escalations, performing RCA, and delivering optimization actions.
- Familiarity with O-RAN architecture, CU/DU splits, and SDN/NFV-based deployments.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, transport, and signaling protocols.
- Experience with containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker) and Linux OS.
- Scripting/programming knowledge (Python, Shell, or Ansible) is a strong plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expert in RAN technologies: GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G NR (gNB, eNB, RNC, DU, CU, etc.).
- Strong experience with fault, performance, and configuration management.
- Familiarity with automation tools and data analysis platforms.
- Good knowledge of virtualization and cloud-native environments.
- Understanding of IP networking, routing, and security.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently and mentor junior team members.
- Proactive and adaptable to evolving technologies and processes.
