Java Software Engineer

Role Overview:

As a Developer within Swedbank Insurance, you will be part of a team responsible for transforming existing TDE services (legacy Java platform) to Andromeda (new Java platform). With the old platform scheduled for decommissioning in the coming years, this is a crucial strategic initiative to modernize and future-proof Swedbank’s service landscape.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the bank to gather requirements, perform analysis, and initiate conversion or redevelopment of TDE services on the Andromeda platform. This is a long-term program where the initial team will establish the best practices and ways of working for the migration process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in the migration of TDE services to the Andromeda platform.
• Collaborate with other development and business teams to understand requirements and technical dependencies.
• Analyze existing TDE services and design appropriate solutions for conversion or redevelopment.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code in Java and Spring Boot.
• Deploy and manage services on OpenShift Kubernetes environments.
• Work with messaging and integration technologies (e.g., MQ, Sterling).
• Take initiative in defining best practices, improving development workflows, and sharing knowledge with team members.
• Contribute to establishing the foundation for a long-term migration strategy.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• 8–10 years of experience as a Java developer.
• Strong expertise in Spring Boot, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
• Experience with MQ and Sterling technologies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proactive, self-driven, and willing to share knowledge with others.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with the Andromeda platform (significant plus).
• Knowledge of the TDE platform (advantage).
• Experience in the banking or insurance domain (advantage).

Desirable Skills:

• Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of cloud-native application development and microservices architecture.
