We’re looking for a Lead PHP Engineer to take ownership of both technical delivery and team leadership within one of our high-impact squads.

You’ll design and deliver scalable WordPress solutions using modern PHP and the Gutenberg editor, optimised for performance, security, and minimal plugin reliance.

As a hands-on leader, you’ll mentor engineers, set coding standards, and collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering peers to drive measurable impact.

To thrive in this role, you’ll embody The EH Way while bringing:

• Deep expertise in PHP, WordPress, and Gutenberg.
• Familiarity with JavaScript/React, especially Gutenberg block development.
• Experience with Laravel or Symfony, strong grasp of OOP, SOLID, and design patterns.
• Solid knowledge of MySQL / PostgreSQL (query optimisation, schema design).
• Hands-on experience with Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Prior exposure to Agile teams and mentoring other developers.

Nice to have:

• RESTful API design and integration experience.
• Headless CMS or SaaS background.
• Familiarity with hosting infrastructure, CDN, WAF, or reverse proxy setups.
