About the Role

A leading AI research initiative is seeking experienced Software Engineers with hands-on code agent experience to contribute to a frontier project at the intersection of AI and software development.

In this role, you will work with cutting-edge coding agents to perform realistic programming tasks on real-world codebases, helping to enhance the performance, accuracy, and reasoning capabilities of next-generation AI systems.

Your expertise will directly influence how AI models understand, execute, and reason through complex software engineering workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Use AI coding agents (e.g., Codex, Claude Code, or equivalent) to perform, evaluate, and refine coding tasks.
• Contribute to projects across one or more core languages: Rust, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
• Write clean, efficient, and production-grade code across diverse real-world codebases.
• Review and validate AI-generated code for performance, correctness, and maintainability.
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and engineers to improve model accuracy and coding performance.

Ideal Qualifications

• Proven experience using AI-assisted coding agents as part of your development workflow.
• Proficiency in Rust, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
• Strong contributions to open-source projects or well-documented personal projects on GitHub.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field from a top-tier university (U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, or New Zealand).
• Based in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and written communication skills.

Project Timeline

• Start Date: Early October (applications reviewed on a rolling basis)
• Duration: Minimum 2 weeks, with potential for extension
• Commitment: 10–20 hours/week (option to extend up to 40 hours/week)
• Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule

Compensation & Contract

• Hourly Rate: $70–$90 USD/hour (based on experience and skill)
• Contract Type: Independent contractor
• Payments: Weekly payouts via Stripe Connect
