Due to an increased demand within our business, SYPAQ are seeking a team of Software Developers for an opportunity with Defence. These opportunities are based in Edinburgh and offer an immediate start.

Our client are seeking web and software development support from experienced software developers over an 8 month period to assist in meeting project milestones by working in close collaboration with the R&D team.

Responsibilities Include

The task will involve software development activities including:

  • Full stack web application development to extend the functionality of the existing prototype (JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Angular 2+, Material UI, Neo4J, PostgreSQL);
  • Development using containerisation technologies (i.e. Docker);
  • Developing APIs to interact with key databases, including Neo4J and PostgreSQL;
  • Support for automated ingestion and processing of data from a variety of third party tools; and
  • Workflow and results processing, including automated contextualisation of data
  • Software development will be in conjunction with the Department’s Staff using an agile, rather than waterfall methodology. Requirements and priorities for this work are flexible and responsive to ongoing research, client feedback and project milestone requirements. Personnel will be expected to work with minimal supervision and contribute to code-review, testing and deployment activities.

The Task Makes Significant Use Of The Following Technologies

  • JavaScript Development Using Angular 2+ and Node.js; and
  • Experience Working with Docker

The Task Also Makes Use Of The Following Technologies

  • Git-based Pull Request Workflows and Agile Development Methodologies;
  • Typescript Development;
  • Angular Material UI API;
  • Neo4J and PostgreSQL;
  • RESTful API Development and Systems Integration; and
  • Networking and Linux Environments

Previous Defence experience will be highly regarded. The successful applicant must be an Australian Citizen with a minimum of Baseline Security Clearance or higher.
