OUR ROLE
What started as a glass factory in 1881 now celebrates generations of design, art, and culture. Guided by the expertise of our designers and craftspeople, we combine heritage with experimentation to create objects made for everyday use — and for lasting appreciation.
And now our creative universe is growing. We are looking for a Product Designer to join our Design team and translate creative vision into beautifully crafted, commercially viable products that carry IITTALA’s unique design language into the future.
Reporting to our Creative Director, this hybrid role will be based at our HQ in Espoo, Finland.
What You’ll Do
As Product Designer, you will play a key role in shaping IITTALA’s seasonal collections, turning creative direction into products that unite craftsmanship, innovation, and commercial awareness. You will lead the design process from early concept through to final prototype, ensuring that every detail reflects IITTALA’s distinct design identity and high standards of quality. Working closely with the Creative Director and cross-functional partners, you will balance creative ambition with practicality, ensuring that each design both inspires and performs in the marketplace.
You are a highly creative and detail-oriented designer who combines a strong sense of aesthetics with technical understanding and an entrepreneurial mindset. You thrive in a collaborative, international environment, bringing ideas to life through hands-on design, clear communication, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. Curious and adaptable, you explore materials, technologies, and new methods to create products that are both timeless and relevant.

- Translate seasonal briefs and concepts into innovative, high-quality product designs
- Build mood boards defining silhouettes, materials, finishes, and colour palettes with the Creative Director
- Develop design packs, technical drawings, and 3D models that ensure manufacturability and brand alignment
- Collaborate with Product Development, Merchandising, and Sourcing throughout the design process
- Lead prototype reviews, capturing and acting on stakeholder feedback
- Contribute to innovation workshops and new product concepting
- Stay informed on design trends, materials, manufacturing techniques, and new design tools
- Balance creative vision with commercial, sustainability, and functional requirements
You are a highly creative and detail-oriented designer who combines a strong sense of aesthetics with technical understanding and an entrepreneurial mindset. Curious and adaptable, you explore materials, technologies, and new methods to create products that are both timeless and relevant.
- 5+ years’ experience in product design, preferably within a premium or luxury brand
- Strong understanding of design processes, materials, and production capabilities
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, and KeyShot; experience with AI tools such as Midjourney is a plus
- Skilled in 3D modelling, 3D printing, and preparing technical drawings
- Experience working with factories and cross-functional teams
- Strong communication, presentation, and time management skills
- A collaborative, problem-solving mindset with adaptability under deadlines
- Fully fluent in English; additional languages are a plus
