Role Overview

The Vice President of Business Development (Europe) plays a key leadership role in driving CTS’s commercial growth across Europe. This executive will be responsible for expanding the company’s footprint, building long-term strategic partnerships, and securing high-value projects in alignment with CTS’s global growth strategy. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Global Business Development & Sales, the VP will lead the European sales organization, including regional Sales Directors and commercial teams, ensuring consistent pipeline development, client engagement, and market penetration.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute CTS’s European business development strategy in alignment with global objectives.
  • Drive expansion into both established and emerging markets across the continent.
  • Represent CTS as a senior leader at major industry events, forums, and client meetings.


Commercial Development

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue large-scale data center projects, strategic partnerships, and joint ventures.
  • Lead negotiations for major contracts, framework agreements, and long-term partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with hyperscalers, colocation operators, utilities, and government entities.


Market Intelligence

  • Monitor and analyze market trends, client activity, DSO/TSO developments, and competitor movements.
  • Provide insight-driven recommendations to guide market entry strategies and client engagement plans.
  • Collaborate with internal data teams and systems (e.g., CIS, DC Byte, Power BI dashboards) to track opportunities and pipeline performance.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Design, Engineering, Project Delivery, and Digital Transformation teams to develop tailored technical and commercial proposals.
  • Ensure alignment between business development goals, operational capabilities, and financial targets.
  • Support internal initiatives aimed at digitalizing BD workflows, client intelligence, and reporting systems.


Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and develop the regional sales team, setting clear KPIs and performance standards.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, Collaboration, and continuous improvement within the BD function.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in business development, commercial leadership, or corporate strategy, with a focus on data centers, mission-critical facilities, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven success in originating and closing multimillion-euro deals and building long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Strong P&L management experience, with the ability to drive growth while maintaining commercial discipline.
  • Deep understanding of European market dynamics, regulatory environments, and energy infrastructure.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills at the C-suite and board levels.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional European languages is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Europe.
