About Bioscout
BioScout has developed the world’s first automated system for detecting airborne crop disease using daily spore sampling and analysis. Already deployed across Australia and now rolling out across Europe and Latin America, it provides farmers with earlier insight into disease presence, helping to reduce crop losses, limit chemical use, and support more sustainable farming practices.
The system combines environmental sampling, microscopy, and data analytics to reveal the invisible. With demand growing, we’re scaling up, entering new markets and expanding our user base.
What you’ll be doing
- Developing and maintaining our platform’s REST API written in C# .NET
- Designing full-stack solutions from the data structures, endpoints and infrastructure to the UI components and interactions that will bring value to our customers
- Developing and maintaining our frontend projects, internal and customer-facing. Written in Typescript/React
- Breaking down requirements into workable pieces of work that the team can deliver collaboratively
- Making reasonable product decisions given the thought leadership required from a fundamentally innovative solution
- Writing clean, testable, and well-documented code across the stack
- Contributing to code reviews and technical discussions to help raise the bar for the whole team
- Participating in feature discovery and design with product and commercial teams
- Collaborating very closely with Mechatronics, Data & ML engineers to improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of our platform
This is a full-stack role in a small (but growing) multidisciplinary engineering team. Some days, you will focus on optimising our APIs or revisiting our infrastructure and CI/CD to enhance our development workflow. In contrast, on other days, you may implement user interfaces in React, either for external or internal customers. We are seeking a team player with exceptional problem-solving skills.
We’re looking for someone who has
- 3-5+ years of experience working on .NET and strong system design foundations
- Very comfortable working with Entity Framework Core
- Experience working with modern CI/CD platforms
- 2-3+ years of experience working with React/Typescript
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- A bias for shipping and iterating quickly without compromising quality
- Confidence in making product choices for/with the team
Bonus Points
Not essential, but highly regarded:
- Experience with AWS-specific cloud infrastructure
- Experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD)
- Experience designing platform APIs
- Leadership experience or eager to develop leadership skills
What We Offer
- Full-time salary + Super + Equity Options
- Work on a mission-driven product already in use across farms in Australia and overseas, helping make agriculture more sustainable and efficient.
- We’re building a supportive, cross-functional environment where engineers work closely with sales and deployment teams, are entrusted with real responsibility, and have opportunities for growth.
- Reasonable flexibility with hours, with most of the team based on-site in our Marrickville office and workshop
