Role Goals

At Hammer Creative, our Capture Department is the heartbeat of how games are brought to life on screen. We’re looking for passionate, hard-working Associate Game Capture Artists who will lead trailer capture projects and build experience therein.

The ideal candidate has a proven understanding of basic game capture, capture project process, and trailer and content creation. They are creative, collaborative, efficient, and capable of producing strong capture and valuable creative. Their metric for success will be to generate strong capture, collaborate effectively and diplomatically, and grow as a creative. This is an onsite position.

Responsibilities

  • Capture cinematic, compelling, and high-quality video and stills for trailers, social content, and a broad range of other applications for B projects and beyond. Create shots lists and documentation to support communication and cohesion between creative, editorial, graphics, and capture.
  • Within capture, exhibit strong gameplay skills, knowledge, and presentational technique and build towards truly high-skill gameplay.
  • Begin to lead trailer capture projects and direct reasonable sizes of capture teams for both singleplayer and multiplayer assets.
  • Provide creative contributions and maintain strong creative and technical output.
  • Maintain, promote, and elevate standards, pipelines, and processes within your work and the work of Capture Supports around you.
  • Act as a creative contributor within our team and assigned projects as well as Junior Artist projects.
  • Establish the capture quality and perspective bar for social projects and beyond. Work under and alongside editorial, creative leads, producers, designers, graphics artists, and beyond to help develop bespoke styles and approaches and achieve content that meets and exceeds expectations.
  • Capable of capturing for several game genres and applications.
  • Manage time wisely and maintain efficiency by staying in close contact with project producers and capture leadership.
  • Play, explore, and break down the content and tools of games to know and share the DNA, capabilities, and opportunities therein.
  • Make recommendations related to project scope and resourcing for campaign, social projects, and beyond.
  • Respond to in-house feedback in a professional and timely manner and always with an open mind. Craft client feedback responses with oversight.
  • With oversight, interact with clients intelligently, diplomatically, and always with responsibility as an extension of Hammer Creative and our values.
  • Bring contributions, inspiration, knowledge, and insight to the Capture Department with enthusiasm.
  • Mentor capture supports in the art of game capture and trailer-making and help guide their success and achievements.
  • Pursue mentorship from Capture Creative Directors and more senior Artists as well as other more senior Hammer staff.
  • Help onboard contractors and full time Associate artists and capture supports.
  • Respect and embody the values, standards, and culture of the Capture Department and Hammer at large.
  • Maintain strong communication with the Director of Capture, Capture Supervisor, and other Capture Directors and Artists in the Capture Department.

  • Develop strong proficiency in capture fundamentals, with a focus on cinematic techniques and documentation.
  • Become a trusted, reliable point of contact for your team’s capture workflow.
  • Gain confidence in handling feedback and communicating effectively across teams.
  • Build an understanding of asset production in capture while exploring opportunities across other creative disciplines.
  • Gain experience and compile proven examples of quality and reliability outside of social projects.
  • Learn to self-manage quality and responsibilities in those projects and actively seek mentorship/feedback to thoroughly develop that consciousness.

The Pay Range For This Role Is

25 - 33.17 USD per hour(Los Angeles)
