JOB DESCRIPTION
Role: Senior Front-End Developer - Design System
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Front-End Developer to join our team for the development of our design system. This role requires deep technical expertise in modern web technologies, with a strong emphasis on accessibility and web component development.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain our organization's design system
Build reusable, accessible web components using Web Component APIs
Implement and enforce accessibility standards across all front-end components
Develop and maintain end-to-end tests with integrated accessibility testing
Collaborate with designers and developers to ensure consistent implementation of design patterns
Conduct accessibility audits and remediation using industry-standard tools
Document component usage, accessibility features, and best practices
Stay current with web standards, accessibility guidelines, and emerging front-end technologies
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in front-end development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript)
Extensive experience with Web Component APIs and custom element development
Proven track record in design system development and maintenance
Expert knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA or higher)
Hands-on experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., axe DevTools, WAVE, Lighthouse, NVDA, JAWS)
Proficiency in end-to-end testing frameworks with accessibility integration (e.g., Playwright, Cypress with axe-core)
Experience:
Demonstrated experience implementing accessibility best practices in production applications
Prior experience building and maintaining design systems or component libraries
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Shadow DOM and styling encapsulation
Knowledge of ARIA specifications and semantic HTML
Familiarity with design tokens and theming systems
Experience with modern build tools and bundlers
Experience with Nx tooling or equivalent monorepo solutions (e.g., Turborepo, Lerna, pnpm workspaces)
Understanding of responsive and adaptive design principles
Contributions to open-source accessibility or component library projects
