The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for an IT Security Analyst to be responsible for detecting, investigating, and responding to security threats across the organization’s IT environment. This role supports the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of City systems through security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and enforcement of security compliance standards, particularly in endpoint and mobile device configurations.

  • Monitor Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Extended Detection and Response (XDR), and endpoint logs to identify and escalate threats.
  • Conduct forensic analysis and assist with root cause identification and containment.
  • Maintain and execute incident response plans, tabletop exercises, and post-incident reviews.
  • Perform internal and external vulnerability scans, coordinate remediation tasks.
  • Administer Microsoft Intune and enforce Mobile Device Management (MDM) compliance policies for Windows, iOS, and Android devices.
  • Monitor and enforce secure configurations and compliance baselines across endpoints
  • Coordinate patch management using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)/Intune and track device health dashboards.
  • Enforce conditional access policies via Office 365 and Entra ID, review access control reports and assist with Active Directory (AD) privilege audits.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for security tools, policies, and incidents.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and administering policies, governance, cybersecurity awareness training and audit compliance reporting.

Two or more years of Information Technology related work experience.

Training

Associate's degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Networking, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:

None.

Preferred

CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate, Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102).

Please Note: Candidates selected for a position within the Information Technology Department will be required to successfully complete a Police Department and fingerprint based background check.

  • SBI/Fingerprinting Criminal History Record Check Requirement: To comply with Sessions Law 2025-16, applicants offered a position with the City may be subject to a criminal history record check of State and National Repositories of Criminal Histories conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) in accordance with G.S. 143B-1209.26. The City may consider the results of these criminal history record checks in its hiring decisions.

From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
