We are seeking a highly skilled Middleware Engineer to support critical integration and middleware infrastructure for one of our key banking clients. The successful candidate will be deployed directly onsite at the bank, where they will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performance integration solutions that power core banking and payment systems.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring deep expertise in IBM middleware technologies, messaging platforms, API management, and DevOps practices—all within a regulated, enterprise-grade financial environment.
- API & Integration Development: Design, implement, and manage APIs using IBM API Connect; build and orchestrate integration flows using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE).
- Messaging & Middleware: Configure, deploy, and optimize messaging solutions using IBM MQ and ActiveMQ, including toolkits such as DB nodes, Kafka nodes, HTTP nodes, and API gateways.
- Transaction Logging & Tracing: Implement robust auditing, logging, and distributed tracing mechanisms to ensure transparency, meet regulatory compliance, and enable rapid root cause analysis.
- Security & Governance: Enforce enterprise security standards using OAuth2, JWT, TLS, and SAML for authentication, authorization, and data protection.
- Performance & Monitoring: Proactively monitor middleware runtimes, identify performance bottlenecks, and resolve complex integration issues.
- Automation & CI/CD: Automate build, deployment, and configuration workflows using DevOps toolchains (e.g., Jenkins, UrbanCode, Azure DevOps).
- Support: Provide Level 1/Level 2 support for middleware and payment system incidents, including log analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis (RCA).
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in middleware or integration engineering.
- Proven expertise with IBM API Connect, IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), IBM MQ, and ActiveMQ.
- Strong proficiency in integration flow development, exception handling, and ACE IDE.
- Solid understanding of data formats (XML, JSON) and integration protocols (REST/SOAP, JMS, MQTT, AMQP).
- Experience with event-driven architecture and asynchronous messaging patterns.
- Scripting and automation skills in Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
- Working knowledge of operating systems including Linux, Windows, and AIX.
- Demonstrated experience deploying and managing middleware in cloud environments (public, private, or hybrid).
- Strong soft skills: analytical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, clear communication, and familiarity with banking or financial services terminology.
- The opportunity to work onsite at a major bank, gaining direct exposure to mission-critical financial systems.
- Collaboration with experienced teams in a high-compliance, high-availability environment.
- Professional development, certification support, and exposure to modern cloud-native integration architectures.
