We are looking for a passionate Master’s-level intern with strong data-science and climate-finance skills to support our data infrastructure development and the development of our sustainable finance analytics product. Based in either Berlin or London, with flexible remote work options, this role offers hands-on experience working with complex real-world data and the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge climate-risk analytics used by banks, investors, and regulators.
- Support the development and maintenance of Forward Analytics’ data infrastructure, including integration of firm- and asset-level datasets (e.g., power plants, refineries, production assets).
- Assist in building climate-financial risk indicators that combine transition scenarios, emissions trajectories, and financial performance data.
- Conduct data cleaning, matching, and enrichment using Python and SQL to ensure integrity across diverse sources (corporate disclosures, satellite data, external climate datasets).
- Prototype and test AI-based data-processing modules, including LLM-powered document parsing, automated data extraction, and scenario tagging.
- Contribute to scenario analysis and portfolio-level risk metrics, linking company and asset attributes to IEA/NGFS transition pathways.
- Collaborate with climate economists and data engineers to translate analytical needs into structured, reproducible workflows.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s degree in Data Science, Environmental Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Quantitative Finance, or related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of climate-finance concepts (e.g., transition risk, net-zero pathways, emissions accounting, energy transition scenarios).
- Strong programming experience in Python; familiarity with SQL and relational databases is a plus.
- Experience with data wrangling, entity matching, or geospatial/asset-level data preferred.
- Interest in applying machine learning or AI to sustainability-related datasets.
- Analytical mindset, strong attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a collaborative research environment.
