At Thai Union, we’re shaping the future of seafood through bold ideas, sustainable solutions, and consumer-driven innovation. Our Innovation Hub in Wageningen is where creativity meets science – and we’re looking for a passionate Product Developer to bring new products from concept to market.


The role will report to the Senior Director, R&D Innovation.



Your Responsibilities:

  • Drive product innovation & development: from researching ingredients and trends to creating prototypes and supporting industrial scale-up.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams – marketing, sensory, supply chain, and factories – to launch exciting new products.
  • Partner with suppliers, start-ups, and research institutions to explore breakthrough innovations & technologies.
  • Manage and maintain our Innovation Hub facilities, ensuring the pilot plant, lab, and User Experience kitchen are cutting-edge and effective.
  • Ensure all developments meet food safety, quality, and compliance standards.

About You:

  • Seasoned innovation and/or product development experience in the food and ingredients industry. Preferable canned seafood, other canning or meat industry
  • Hands-on experience with (pilot) plant equipment and lab trials,
  • Knowledge of food safety systems (HACCP, ISO, BRC)
  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Culinary Science or related field - or equivalent experience
  • A curious mind, collaborative spirit, and startup-like agility within a global business
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus)
  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Analytical, structured, and process-driven mindset.
  • Strong adaptability and ability to thrive in ambiguity and cross-functional complexity.
  • Fluent in English (both written and verbal).
  • Willing to work primarily onsite in Wageningen (minimum 4 days/week) and travel occasionally (10%).
