About the role


We are going through an exciting period of change and are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Software Engineer (iOS & Android) to join our Engineering team. As a Lead Engineer, you will guide the design, development, and delivery of high-quality mobile applications while mentoring and supporting other engineers in the team.


You will play a key role in shaping our mobile architecture, introducing best practices, and driving the adoption of modern technologies, enabling shared solutions across iOS and Android platforms. Working closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders, you will ensure that our mobile apps are scalable, secure, and deliver exceptional user experiences.

Responsibilities


  • Lead and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality iOS and Android applications.
  • Drive the adoption and implementation of Kotlin Multiplatform for building shared components across mobile platforms.
  • Utilise Swift, SwiftUI, and Xcode for modern iOS development, and Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for Android.
  • Define and enforce coding standards, best practices, and architectural patterns (MVVM, MVP, MVI).
  • Oversee integration of RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, SDKs, and third-party dependencies.
  • Ensure security best practices are followed across mobile applications.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, conducting code reviews and supporting continuous learning within the team.
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate user needs into effective and elegant mobile experiences.
  • Partner with DevOps teams to optimise CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure for mobile delivery.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluating new tools and frameworks, and championing their adoption when beneficial.


Skills and experience


  • Extensive professional experience in mobile app development across iOS and Android.
  • Deep knowledge of Swift, SwiftUI, Xcode, and Kotlin, Jetpack Compose.
  • Strong expertise in Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) for cross-platform solutions.
  • Solid understanding of mobile architectural design patterns (MVVM, MVP, MVI).
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, SDKs, and 3rd party libraries.
  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud-based infrastructure for scalable mobile applications.
  • Strong knowledge of mobile app security and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Published technical articles, blog posts, or conference talks on mobile development.
  • Active participation in iOS or Android communities (meetups, online groups, forums).
  • Proven experience leading initiatives in cross-platform mobile development.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
