Firewood Digital is a small independent game development studio based in the beautiful capital of Scotland, Edinburgh. We are deeply committed to creating engaging and exciting games with unique mechanics and interesting stories.
We are looking for individuals who are keen to join our team in a remote voluntary role as a Game Developer. We are currently working on our first flagship game, Moonlight, which is a top-down open-world survival craft game where you have to survive and make a permanent home or leave the planet you find yourself stranded on.
About the Role:
The role is a remote voluntary Game Developer position at Firewood Digital Ltd. Your role will include the following:
- Develop gameplay systems like crafting or terrain generation.
- Debug and test code to ensure stability.
- Collaborate closely with the team to maintain consistency and implement feedback.
- Prototype new mechanics based on design documentation provided.
Requirements:
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of the Godot Engine 4.5 (& GDScript).
- Willing to collaborate, learn, and work well within a team.
- Understanding of 2D games and the development journey.
- Previous experience working on a game (with evidence).
Preferred (but not required):
- Familiar with open-world games with narrative elements.
- Interested in sustainability and accessibility in gaming.
- Experience working on a survival or top-down game.
- We especially encourage from the LGBTQIA+ community and other underrepresented communities to apply.
