The role also manages the OHO response to subpoenas and statutory notices requiring production of information, issued to OHO by other government agencies and coordinates management of and reporting on alleged privacy breaches by OHO and privacy complaints received by OHO.
In This Role You Will
- Interpret and apply the Right to Information Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009.
- Receive, assess, and decide RTI, IP and Administrative Access applications and requests in accordance with delegations, including complying with requests from federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Handle complex and/or sensitive applications and requests for accessing or amending information.
- Coordinate, manage and report on external complaint reviews from Queensland Ombudsman.
- Receive subpoenas and statutory notices requiring production of information and manage release of information accordingly.
- Develop and deliver awareness raising and training programs to OHO staff on RTI, IP, and administrative access application management practices.
- Manage external reviews, including negotiation with affected parties, the Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) and effectively implement their recommendations.
- Prepare and manage appeals relating to RTI and IP applications with the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) in consultation with and support from the Director, Legal Services and, when appropriate, brief Legal Counsel.
- Applications will remain current for a period of up to 12 months and may be considered for other vacancies (identical or similar).
- Appointments are subject to criminal history checks in accordance with section 52 of the Public Sector Act 2022.
- Prior to appointment, current and previous public sector employees are required to disclose any history of serious disciplinary action in accordance with section 71 of the Public Sector Act 2022.
