The Opportunity
tyICEYE is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join its growing Security Engineering team. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who can embed security practices into complex, mission-critical systems while collaborating closely with software developers, infrastructure engineers, and product teams.
The role requires a proactive approach to threat detection, secure infrastructure design, and developer enablement, combining security expertise with strong communication and stakeholder awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain secure systems (e.g. access control, authentication, API security).
- Integrate security controls into infrastructure via Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Embed security best practices throughout the CI/CD pipeline and software development lifecycle.
- Perform threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and risk-based hardening.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to raise security awareness and ensure compliance with internal standards.
- Automate security operations and monitoring wherever possible.
- Stay current with evolving security threats and technologies, applying insights to strengthen ICEYE’s posture.
Required Skills & Experience
- Solid experience as a Security Engineer or similar role, ideally with a background in software development or architecture.
- Proficient in access control frameworks (e.g. OAuth2.0, OIDC) and API security.
- Hands-on experience with cloud security (ideally AWS).
- Strong grasp of DevSecOps principles and automation practices.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Independent, willing to take ownership and eager to learn and develop.
Preferred (but not required)
- Experience with Kubernetes, Istio, and on-premises environments.
- Experience in C++ and Python.
- Experience in network security.
- Familiarity with tools like HashiCorp Vault, Open Policy Agent (OPA).
- Prior consulting experience or work as a Security Champion within product teams.
Additional Details
- Candidates should be based in or willing to relocate to the Uusimaa region (relocation support available).
- A SUPO security screening will be required upon hiring.
- This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of on-site presence three days a week.
