For one of our globally leading tech clients we are urgently looking for an experienced Python Developer for a long contract based in Amsterdam.

Role:

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer with strong expertise in cloud infrastructure and OpenStack to design, build, and maintain scalable, cloud-native software components. The ideal candidate possesses solid software engineering fundamentals, experience deploying applications in Kubernetes environments, and a passion for contributing to open-source ecosystems.

Team Activities:

• Design, implement, and enhance cloud-native components in Python with focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Contribute to upstream OpenStack and related open-source tools.
• Fix bugs, resolve incidents, and implement improvements in production environments.
• Write and maintain unit, functional, and integration tests to ensure code quality.
• Deploy services to Kubernetes, including Helm chart creation and CRD/operator development.
• Improve observability through logs, metrics, and alerts (Prometheus, Perses).
• Support production systems, participate in on-call rotations.
• Maintain clear, detailed technical documentation.
• Follow Agile practices — sprint planning, code reviews, backlog grooming.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient cloud infrastructure.

Skills and Qualifications – Required:

• Professional software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Python (async IO, design patterns, packaging).
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, and deployment automation.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
• Proficiency with Git, GitHub or similar version control tools.
• Good understanding of cloud platforms (OpenStack preferred; AWS/Azure a plus).
