About Siemens Foundational Technologies Department
Siemens Foundational Technologies is the central in-house research unit at Siemens and as such occupies an outstanding position within Siemens' R&D facilities. It acts as a strategic partner to support Siemens business units with R&D services, protects the companys intellectual property, coordinates the collaboration with top universities worldwide, and supports standardization activities in all business units and regions. Through its R&D activities in Germany, USA, Portugal, China, India, Japan, and Eastern Europe, Siemens Technology helps to secure the companys technological future and strengthen its ambition.
Your mission will be
This role is an opportunity for a junior data scientist who is enthusiastic about developing of applications in such areas as satellite and drone images processing, industrial monitoring and analytics, power grids optimization, leak detection in the pipelines, and many others. The business demands new ways of data processing, analysis and visualization, as well as performance optimization and process management based on cutting-edge technologies in web, big data and streaming.
What are the responsibilities?
A 12-month internship with allowance on a hybrid and flexible working model designed to enhance your work-life balance while supporting your studies. In addition, you'll have access to online learning platforms and discounts with our partners.

What are the responsibilities?
- Contribute to the development of advanced analytics components within industrial systems, spanning Generative AI, computer vision, condition monitoring, signal processing, and beyond
- Leverage large-scale, heterogeneous industrial data to build impactful AI/ML solutions that address real-world operational challenges
- Support the exploration of untapped opportunities in Generative AI and big data for design, engineering, and analytical applications
- Assist in rapid prototyping, feasibility studies, and the formulation of groundbreaking approaches to validate new ideas
- Collaborate with a highly skilled team of machine learning engineers and software developers in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment
- Strong background in mathematics, physics or computer science
- Experience and deep understanding in machine learning, signal processing and data mining
- Practical experience with deep neural networks (LLMs or computer vision models)
- Basic software development skills (Git, IDE, Linux)
- Good knowledge of Python or another programming language
- Proficiency with basic data structures and algorithms
- Experience in handling and analyzing large data sets
