Role Description

The Fashion / Product Design Assistant supports the design and development process of apparel, accessories, and related fashion products. Working closely with designers, production teams, and merchandising staff, this role assists in concept creation, material selection, prototype preparation, and quality checks. The position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fashion industry while contributing to the creative and technical aspects of product design and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the research and development of new fashion concepts, materials, colors, and trends.
• Support senior designers in creating sketches, technical drawings, and product specifications.
• Prepare mood boards, fabric swatches, and digital presentations for seasonal collections.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers regarding samples, materials, and production timelines.
• Participate in fitting sessions, providing feedback on design adjustments and garment construction.
• Maintain and organize design archives, sample libraries, and documentation.
• Assist with quality control and ensure that final products meet design standards and specifications.
• Help manage communication between design, production, and marketing departments.
• Track project schedules to ensure timely delivery of design milestones and samples.
• Stay updated on fashion trends, market movements, and consumer preferences to support creative direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Product Development, or a related field.
• 0–3 years of experience in fashion design, apparel production, or a similar creative environment.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or CLO 3D.
• Strong sense of fashion aesthetics, color coordination, and material knowledge.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining design consistency and quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Basic understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and production processes.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new tasks and fast-paced environments.
