Job Opportunity: Business Analyst (6-Month Contract, Extendable)

Location: Onshore, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Sector: Oil & Gas / Engineering

Contract Type: MPH contract & sponsorship


Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with operations, engineering, and management stakeholders in Oil & Gas projects to understand business needs and identify opportunities where AI/ML can add value (e.g. predictive maintenance, production optimization, drilling performance).
  • Define, document, and prioritize AI/ML use cases; develop business cases with cost-benefit and ROI analysis.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for Data Scientists and AI Engineers; define success metrics and KPIs linked to business objectives.
  • Work with data teams to ensure high quality, relevant datasets: identify data sources, assess data integrity, clean, preprocess, and validate data.
  • Support model development efforts by ensuring assumptions, constraints, and domain knowledge are properly communicated and incorporated.
  • Assist in prototyping, testing, validating and deploying machine learning / AI models; ensure user acceptance, performance tracking, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations to present model results, insights, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Monitor deployed models: evaluate performance, detect drift, manage versioning, suggest retraining or refinements as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies around AI usage, data privacy, bias, etc.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and documentation: use-cases, model behavior, limitations, lessons learned.


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, engineering, or technical field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics). Master’s / advanced degree is a plus.
  • 6 years of experience in business analysis or product analytics, ideally in the Oil & Gas or energy sector; prior exposure to AI / ML projects.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to work with large, complex data sets.
  • Experience with tools and languages relevant to data science / AI workflows: SQL, Python / R, data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts: model training, validation, overfitting/underfitting, metrics (precision, recall, ROC, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills: able to bridge between domain experts (engineers, geoscientists, operations) and technical teams; explain complex technical issues in business-friendly terms.
  • Proven ability in requirements gathering, stakeholder management, creating functional spec documents, user stories, use-cases.
  • Experience in monitoring model performance, handling data quality issues, and iterative model improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and ambiguity.
