Position Summary
Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of Agile scrum teams to design, implement, and test world-class distributed cloud software that powers our industry-leading DNA sequencing and laboratory information systems
- Develops and maintains Java based web application and microservices
- Evaluates and proposes suitable alternatives for our software architecture, designs, and implementations
- Shows a passion for leading-edge software development practices
- Displays a passion for clean code, loose coupling, and clean architectures
- Be a results-oriented, hyper-collaborator: leading joint design sessions, pair programming, design and code reviews, etc.
- Develops sustainable, automated deployment and build processes
- Practices software engineering principles such as agile methodologies, scrum and continuous integration
- Strives and serves to be technical role model to the team; grows and grooms the team technically.
- Self-initiated and self-learner. Able to analyze and provide solutions in creative and effective ways.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and experiences to identify root cause and suggest variations in approach.

Required Educational Background
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree
- Full Stack Developers who are proficient in both frontend and backend coding
- In-depth knowledge of Java, TypeScript, or at least one other object-oriented language.
- Experience with front end technologies and/or front-end frameworks, preferably: Angular.
- Demonstrated strong ability to design, develop, and maintain object-oriented multi-threaded applications
- Building and consuming REST APIs
- RDBMS such as AWS-RDS, PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Message Queues (RabbitMQ, AWS-SQS or similar)
- Able to write robust code that meets product requirements while being lean, maintainable, unit tested, and easy to understand
- Familiar and experience in analysis and resolution of cybersecurity issues and practices.
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Self-starter mentality with excellent communication skills
- Be curious, detail oriented, and analytical, with a proven ability to learn quickly
- Be team-oriented, motivated, taking ownership of assigned tasks
- Have proven verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner
- Passion for technology
- Extensive experience writing high quality unit tests against mock objects
- Proficient with source control management repositories (GIT, SVN)
- Experience in CI/CD
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies
- Must thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Experience in participating in cross-organizational or inter-company collaboration
- Experience in biotech and bioinformatics is a plus
