About the Role:
We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our Service Department. functions as the point of contact for customers to help them address technical issues. The key role of the Service Engineer includes diagnosing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex problems quickly and efficiently within the contracted SLA requirement. They are effective in relationship management, communicating clearly with customers and third parties, and understanding the issues of the various equipment and service providers; making them uniquely able to effectively coordinate the resolution of an issue between and among support staff, third parties, and customers. This role requires strong technical knowledge and close collaboration with the internal engineering teams, customer, O&M provider, asset management team, equipment providers, and regional ISO. The Service Engineer will contribute to our industry-leading SCADA, Controls, Network, and Data Analytics platform by feeding back lessons learned from field incidents, improving the Merit Controls product and driving the growth of renewable energy technologies. This position reports to the Technical Services Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute network integration and implementation for small to large-scale renewable energy sites.
- Support network architecture and design using Cisco, Hirschmann, and Palo Alto products.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including architecture drawings, IP schemas, and configuration standards.
- Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, IDS, DNS, DHCP, SDN, and network segmentation technologies.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide remote or onsite technical support as required.
- Provide guidance for fiber optic network design and commissioning.
- Manage and support remote connectivity between Azure or AWS environments and field sites (VPN/IPSEC).
- Ensure adherence to cybersecurity and compliance policies and procedures.
- Support customer portal connectivity for secure access to site data in Azure.
- Track, report, and optimize recurring costs associated with network services.
- Participate in pre-sales scoping and pricing of industrial networking opportunities.
Experience:
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in network design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting Cisco or Palo Alto network infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of Azure or AWS environments.
- Experience with VLANs, routing protocols, and network segmentation.
