Purpose

As a Network Engineer on the Fixed Wireless Team, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day support and assistance of the Fixed Wireless fleet and backend network architecture, which includes supporting 34,000+ GE Orbit routers, 180 Sierra Wireless routers, and 200 Cradlepoint routers. This also includes updating and developing process and troubleshooting documentation, ad-hoc and onsite training to support groups, network device management, equipment lifecycle management, and performing 24x7 on-call support every 3 rd week or as needed.

General Job Responsibilities

  • Perform on-call duties as assigned
  • Work with Field Operations Technicians to resolve Fixed UE issues
  • Provide excellent customer service to meet or exceed service level agreements or priorities
  • Create and modify network documentation and drawings
  • Create and modify troubleshooting documentation
  • Work with vendors and service providers to resolve connectivity and hardware issues.
  • Participate in upgrades and patch management of GE PulseNet and cellular routers
  • Create and schedule network or maintenance change requests
  • Attend Operating Company meetings to resolve SCADA issues pertaining to Fixed UEs
  • Perform configurations of Fixed UE devices as required
  • Created and modified network documentation
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities/details, meet schedules, and deliver on customer commitments

Job Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the following:
  • Ethernet switching technology and troubleshooting
  • Dynamic routing protocols, mainly OSPF and BGP
  • VPNs and firewalls
  • DNS and DHCP
  • VLANs
  • Wireless networks and access points
  • Serial protocols, such as RS-232 and RS-485
  • Understanding of Network Address Translation and Port Address Translation
  • Network design and implementation of small to medium sized networks
  • Basic understanding of the following:
  • DMVPN design, implementation, and support
  • Cisco ISE
  • PKI
  • Cellular router experience
  • Cellular APN
  • Palo Alto firewalls
  • Use of automation tools and scripting (Python, Ansible)

Education / Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred); Computer Science, MIS, or technical degree in Computer Science or related technology or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of Data Network Experience with Cisco Routing/Switching and firewalls.
  • Cisco certifications are a plus.
