Summary:
The main function of a network engineer is to determine user requirements and design specifications for computer networks. A typical network engineer is responsible for planning and implementing network upgrades.
Job Responsibilities:
- Adjust network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands.
- Communicate with customers, sales staff, or marketing staff to determine customer needs.
- Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs or upgrades.
- Design, build, or operate equipment configuration prototypes, including network hardware, software, servers, or server operation systems.
- Determine specific network hardware or software requirements such as platforms, interfaces, bandwidths, or routine schemas.
- Develop and implement solutions for network problems.
Skills:
- Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware as it relates to data storage.
- Knowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software and internet directory services software.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field required.
- 2-4 years experience required.
Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $36.00 - $37.00 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages. Packages may include medical, dental, and vision benefits, health savings accounts with qualified medical plan enrollment, 10 paid days off, 3 days paid bereavement leave, 401(k) plan participation with employer match, life and disability insurance, commuter benefits, dependent care flexible spending account, accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, accommodations and reimbursement for work travel, and discretionary performance or recognition bonus. Sick leave and mobile phone reimbursement provided based on state or local law.
