Azure Storage has grown significantly, now hosting several exabytes of data, and is actively designing systems to support zettabyte-scale demand in the years ahead. As we continue to innovate and expand our capabilities, we are looking for a Data Scientist who can leverage data to solve high-impact business problems. In this role, you will apply machine learning (ML) techniques and statistical analysis to experiment with data and uncover insights that shape Azure Storage’s technical and business strategy.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with engineers across the Azure stack to deliver end-to-end solutions that improve storage efficiency and customer experience. Responsibilities

  • Build Models and Agentic Applications to solve complex artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) problems for Azure Storage.
  • Data Analysis, Engineering to ensure the models and AI applications have high quality data to work with.
  • You will understand modeling techniques used within the team, then run model tools on prepared data sets. You’ll also analyze model performance and incorporate customer feedback into its evaluation.
  • You will understand the current state of the industry, including current trends, so that you can contribute to thought leadership best practices. You’ll also write code for a specific feature or model, and develop an understanding of proper debugging techniques.
  • You will understand each customer’s business goals and learn best practices for identifying growth opportunities. You’ll also examine projects through a customer-oriented focus, and manage customer expectations regarding project progress.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in developing end-to-end machine learning (ML) systems

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with public cloud design patterns and considerations in the areas of Distributed Storage Systems, Big-Data, Data Mining, Information Retrieval.
  • Experience with open source, cloud-based platforms, Microsoft Azure, or any other public/private cloud platforms.

Data Science IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
