We're looking for an Agile Coach to play a pivotal role in shaping how we deliver technology and value across our Core Technology group. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role where you'll combine strategic influence with practical coaching—mentoring teams, embedding Agile practices, and driving a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. You'll have the opportunity to lead change, strengthen delivery excellence, and ensure our teams are empowered, adaptive, and focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for our learners and customers worldwide.
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
About The Role
The purpose of this role is to embed Agile principles across multiple Core Technology teams and foster a culture of collaboration, enabling high-performing teams and delivering customer value.
As a core member of our team, you will:
- Champion Agile ways of working across multiple teams, guiding individuals and groups to adopt and improve Agile practices and mindsets to deliver customer value.
- Coach and mentor Scrum Masters and delivery teams, promoting shared learning, and best practice.
- Drive continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation and optimising Agile processes to deliver working software effectively.
- Develop and standardise metrics to measure performance and value, using insights to inform improvement.
- Evolve Agile tools and practices, ensuring teams have the frameworks and systems they need to deliver efficiently.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate technical roadmaps into measurable business outcomes and embed Agile thinking beyond technology.
- Foster a culture of learning, collaboration and adaptivity, encouraging joined-up problem-solving across teams.
- Communicate effectively at all levels, ensuring alignment on priorities and progress.
- You may also lead one Scrum team, depending on organisational needs.
We're seeking an experienced Agile Coach with a strong track record of guiding teams, shaping culture, and enabling high performance in complex environments.
You'll bring:
- Extensive Agile expertise – Proven experience with Agile frameworks, along with hands-on coaching of teams.
- Transformation experience – Demonstrated success in leading Agile adoption and delivering measurable improvements in delivery performance, collaboration, and business outcomes.
- Servant leadership mindset – Skilled at building trust, fostering autonomy, and enabling self-organising, high-performing teams.
- Continuous improvement focus – Proven ability to embed practices that drive lasting, measurable improvement.
- Technical and business fluency – Able to bridge engineering and business priorities, aligning technology delivery with strategic goals.
- Data-driven approach – Proficient in using metrics and Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to generate insights and inform decision-making
- Strong communication and facilitation skills – Confident influencing without authority, engaging stakeholders at all levels, and driving alignment.
- Cultural awareness – Effective working with distributed, cross-functional teams and adapting approaches to different contexts.
- Adaptability and resilience – Skilled at balancing governance with agility and maintaining delivery momentum in dynamic environments.
- Collaborative mindset – Passionate about coaching, team development, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
