🐇 Front-End Developer (Mid-Level) — React + TypeScript + Node
Chatswood | 5 days on-site | Mandarin required | Game Development
“It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.” — Alice
Choose Your Door…
Door A: The Safe Hallway
Fluorescent lights hum. Standups drag. Your pull request waits… and waits. You sigh, sip a lukewarm coffee, and promise yourself that “next sprint” you’ll actually ship something fun.
Door B: The Rabbit Hole
You step through a studio in Chatswood where prototypes become playable in days, not months. UI states shimmer like potions, builds deploy at the ping of a pipeline, and teammates switch between English and Mandarin like Cheshire Cats grinning between worlds. A game designer slides you a sketch: “Can this menu feel… curiouser and curiouser?” You smile, open your editor, and React.
If you picked Door B, read on. (If you picked Door A, we wish you many fluorescent bulbs.)
Your Quest
You’ll be the front-end adventurer turning wild ideas into polished, performant game interfaces for web and mobile titles. One day you’re refining animation timing so a button “pops” just right; the next you’re wiring a Node-powered API into a TypeScript state machine faster than you can say “Eat Me.”
You’ll pair with artists, designers, and backend mages, shipping features frequently via CI/CD. Dailies might be in Mandarin; code reviews in crisp TypeScript; launches with cake (sometimes literally).
“Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.” — The Cheshire Cat
Power-Ups You Wield (a bit later, as promised)
- React + TypeScript mastery for building sleek, reusable UI components.
- Node.js know-how to integrate front end with services/SSR/APIs.
- Mandarin (spoken & written) for daily collaboration with offshore teammates.
- CI/CD familiarity (GitHub Actions/GitLab/CircleCI) to ship fast and safe.
- 3+ years crafting complex software (this is a mid-level role).
Nice-to-Haves in Your Satchel
- Next.js, WebSockets/real-time updates, performance profiling.
- Testing (Jest/RTL/Playwright/Cypress).
- Any game/web graphics tinkering (Canvas, WebGL, PixiJS/Three.js).
The Map & The Loot
- Where: Chatswood studio, on-site 5 days/week (think buzzing dev floor + playtest nook).
- Reward: A$110k–$125k + super (commensurate with your XP).
- Start: As soon as you can tumble down the rabbit hole.
- Visa: AU work rights required (no sponsorship this round).
Why This Adventure?
- Ship like a speedrunner: weekly releases, instant player feedback.
- Small party, big impact: your ideas aren’t lost in the forest.
- Creative room to roam: if you can prototype it, you can pitch it.
How to Enter the Rabbit Hole
Send your CV plus a few lines on the trickiest front-end puzzle you’ve cracked (links to repos/demos welcome). If you’ve ever made a micro-interaction feel like magic, we want to see it.
