Role Overview

We’re looking for a Product Design Manager to lead, mentor, and grow our Product Design team while shaping the future of user experience across the platform. This role sits at the intersection of design leadership, strategy & vision, and hands-on craft. In the short term, you’ll act as a player-coach, contributing directly to design work while managing the team, shifting toward team development as the team scales.


Your primary goal is to take the our website and mobile apps to the next level, making them best in class with a strong focus on quality, ease of use, and learnability. You’ll ensure that design remains consistent across projects and that the design language, represented in our evolving Design System, grows in a thoughtful and controlled manner as the product and company scale.


You will be responsible for upleveling the design team’s skills, creating career paths and growth plans, running design reviews and 1:1s, assessing team performance, and, above all, fostering a culture of quality, craftsmanship, and innovation.


Reporting to the VP of Product, you’ll partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and QA to deliver a cohesive, intuitive, and scalable user experience that delights users and supports global growth.


Key Responsibilities


Team Leadership


Lead and inspire a team of 3 UX/Product Designers, ensuring their work is user-centered, data-informed, and aligned with business goals.

Define career paths and growth plans, establish and review quarterly goals, and run 1:1s with direct reports.

Foster a culture of quality, craftsmanship, and innovation to take Turno from good to better to best in class.

Lead Design Peer Reviews, provide actionable feedback, and encourage collaboration

Review and approve design output to ensure quality, usability, and consistency

Supervise the allocation of design resources across squads and initiatives

Design Strategy & Vision

Define a clear UX vision and north star based on the company’s and product’s strategy

Define what “best in class” means for Design across all product surfaces, e.g. UX vision, quality standards, usability, learnability

Influence product roadmap and prioritization from a user experience perspective


Design Processes & Expertise

Translate complex user needs and business goals into elegant, user-centered solutions

Apply deep knowledge of mobile interaction patterns and UI best practices to deliver intuitive experiences

Lead the design of end-to-end product experiences across mobile apps and digital platforms

Proficient in the latest design trends and technologies

Define design workflows, documentation standards, and collaboration rituals (e.g., peer design reviews, research syncs, QA walkthroughs).

Create user flows, wireframes, and draft prototypes for mobile-first experiences

Evolve Turno’s Design System in partnership with Front-End Engineering.


Collaboration

Partner closely with Product Managers, User Researchers, and Engineering Managers to ensure discovery and delivery are based on real-life user needs and feedback

Present the team’s work to stakeholders with solid arguments for design decisions, based on qualitative user feedback (customer obsession), quantitative metrics (data-driven), and industry best practices

Collaborate with Marketing, Brand, and Customer Experience to ensure consistency across all touchpoints.

Accountability & Data-Driven Results

Own, track, and report on UX KPIs:

Strength and adoption of Design System components

Product usability scores: task success rates, task abandonment rates, SUS, etc.

Reduction in UX/UI bugs and inconsistencies

Reduction in UX/UI & Usability-related complaints in NPS survey

Design team satisfaction, retention, and productivity



Qualifications

7+ years of experience in Product/UX Design, including 2+ years in a lead or manager role

Proven experience designing for SaaS or digital products (web + mobile)

Mastery of mobile interaction patterns and UI design across iOS and Android platforms

Strong understanding of modern UX practices, design systems, and product development workflows

Exceptional visual design skills and a keen eye for typography, layout, and detail

Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, especially Figma, including the use of components, variants, and design tokens

Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams

A portfolio demonstrating strong product thinking, systems design, and execution quality

Nice to have

Experience working with SaaS platforms or two-sided marketplaces

Experience with the short-term rental or hospitality industries
