CMI is now seeking a Project Manager, Ukraine for its Eurasia team to manage CMI’s EU-funded project “Sustaining Ukrainian Resilience and European Security through Dialogue”.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Representing CMI’s “Sustaining Ukrainian Resilience and European Security through Dialogue” Project and advancing its priorities vis-à-vis a broad range of Ukrainian and international stakeholders based in Ukraine;
- Managing the substantive implementation of the project, including partner relations, human resource management and budget oversight in coordination with the project team;
- Substantive development of CMI’s portfolio within Ukraine, in cooperation with other senior members within the team and Ukrainian partners;
- Maintaining and developing cooperation with Ukrainian and international stakeholders, including developing and ensuring a responsive model of cooperation with the Ukrainian policy and decision-makers;
- Facilitating working and strategic processes involving CMI’s partners and key stakeholders;
- Monitoring and analysing contextual developments in the field and conducting research on the country and the surrounding regions, e.g. conflict analyses and stakeholder mappings and providing substantive documents and briefs as needed
- At least 3-5 years of demonstrated practical experience in a similar role, preferably in the field of international dialogue, mediation and/or peacebuilding.
- A university degree in a relevant field.
- Solid project management skills (e.g. strategic development, budgeting, RBM).
- A good understanding, practical experience and a demonstrated strong interest in issues related to Ukraine and the wider Eurasia region, the dynamics and politics, relevant peace processes and related diplomatic efforts.
- Experience in strategic engagement with different EU institutions is considered as an asset.
- Excellent networks in Eurasia region and the field of mediation, and strong skills in building and managing relationships with local, regional and international organizations.
- Strong analytical and writing skills (both editing and production of written materials) as well as good IT skills.
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, creativity, conflict sensitivity and good political judgement.
- Flexible attitude and ability to work under pressure in challenging circumstances and to tight timelines.
- Willingness and ability to travel to and from Ukraine.
- Fluent written and spoken skills in English and in Ukrainian or Russian. Other languages skills are considered as an asset.

The Project Manager reports to the Senior Manager, Ukraine. This position is fixed term until January 2027. The preferred starting date is December 2025 and will be set upon agreement. The position requires significant time working in Kyiv, and regular travel, including to/from Ukraine. Should the candidate be located in Helsinki/Brussels CMI offers an employment contract.
