Project Manager (R&D) – Espoo

About the Role

As a Project Manager, you will lead cross-functional R&D projects covering new products, product care, and custom products. You’ll work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers—and you won’t hesitate to be hands-on. You will own the plan, the execution, and the results: from scoping and gating to validation, transfer to manufacturing, and post-launch improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead end-to-end R&D projects from concept and development through verification/validation and release to production
• Guide cross-functional project teams (mechanical, electrical, software, test, manufacturing)
• Create and maintain realistic project plans, budgets, and resource allocations; track progress and report status
• Run gating/decision reviews and manage risks, issues, and changes (including FMEA and mitigations)
• Coordinate prototypes, pre-production builds, and transfer to production in collaboration with Operations and Quality
• Drive product care initiatives (cost-down, quality/reliability, component obsolescence, and sustaining engineering)
• Scope and deliver custom products/configurations in close collaboration with Sales and key customers
• Ensure documentation, regulatory and QMS requirements (e.g., ISO 9001) are met throughout the lifecycle
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders and leadership; provide data-driven decisions and trade-offs

What We’re Looking For

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., mechanical, electrical, automation, materials, physics, or similar)
• Proven experience managing multidisciplinary hardware-plus-software R&D projects from concept to production
• Comfortable being hands-on with prototypes, test setups, and practical troubleshooting when required
• Strong planning, prioritization, and risk management skills; fluent with tools like Jira/Confluence
• Familiarity with manufacturing transfer, BOM/PLM processes, verification/validation, and reliability testing
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams
• Language: Our working language is English, Finnish is a plus
