The position

We are seeking a Bioinformatician with a strong background in genomics, epigenetics and multi-omics and some expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) to join our growing biomedical innovation team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and contribute to the design, development, and deployment of machine learning solutions that unlock insights from complex omics datasets, particularly epigenomics. You will work at the intersection of AI, genomics, and translational medicine, assessing and developing tools that enable discovery and accelerate therapeutic development.

This post is part of the SciLifeLab Clinical Genomic platform, which aims to bridge the gap between basic science and clinical implementation. The platform has nodes at every Swedish medical faculty, and this post will be based in the Linköping node.

As part of their role, the postholder will have two main areas they will work on. 1) Recent translational work has revealed that analysis of epigenetic data, in combination with AI approaches, can enable accurate classification of disease states. Your job here will entail the evaluation and implementation of emerging AI tools relevant to epigenomic analysis of clinical data and help with interpretation of results. You will also tailor these analyses in response to clinical and researcher feedback, and help develop new algorithms where needed: this may include the incorporation of genomic or other omic data 2) An important second part of the post is helping to automate components of interpretation and visualization of complex multimodal results for users who are unused to coding. This will include designing tools for the automatic processing of genomics or other omics datasets, alongside medical or biometric data, which will aid clinicians, or other users, to graph and statistically analyze results. For this you will develop and refine techniques taking advantage of apps, intelligent agents, AI assistants, or similar.

You will be encouraged to publish scientific findings and share new analysis methods, as well as present results to stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams. You will participate in Clinical Genomics meetings and activities and help disseminate best practice through the network. You will also be part of a team of bioinformaticians and molecular biologists locally, and will contribute to helping with the upkeep and maintenance of core activities and services as part of that team.
