As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to the development of our next-generation scheduling platform, integrating deeply with substrate APIs, Copilot experiences, and other Outlook services. You’ll help deliver modern and intelligent Microsoft Calendar experiences across Monarch and Teams, accelerating innovation and creating a funnel for premium value through Places and Copilot.

Responsibilities
- Integrate personal and organizational time/location data into the M365 graph to power Copilot and agent-based assistance.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and partner teams to define user requirements and deliver intelligent scheduling solutions that support hybrid work coordination.
- Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight as well as break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and AI advancements to deliver transformative Copilot experiences that support calendar planning.
- Design and implement scalable backend services that power Microsoft Calendar experiences across Monarch and Teams, integrating deeply with substrate APIs, Copilot, and Places.
- Participate architectural decisions and engineering excellence to ensure high reliability, performance, and security in alignment with Microsoft’s Secure Future Initiative (SFI).
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and agile planning processes.
- Embody the Microsoft culture and values.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience using software development agents or assistants to co-develop.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Graph, M365 services, or workplace productivity tools.
- Familiarity with AI/Machine Learning concepts, especially in the context of Copilot or agent-based systems.
- Exposure to hybrid work scenarios, calendar systems, or workplace coordination platforms.
