We’re looking for a Software Engineer II passionate about distributed systems, automation, and service reliability. You’ll design and develop scalable services that simplify and strengthen our servicing pipeline reducing manual steps, improving efficiency, and accelerating delivery.
You’ll also participate in our Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) rotation, ensuring high availability and driving continuous improvements in performance and reliability.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, distributed services.
- Build automation and streamline packaging processes, reduce manual steps, and improve efficiency across the servicing pipeline.
- Operate and maintain core services ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
- Participate in the Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) rotation to support service health and drive continuous improvements.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver solutions that accelerate Windows delivery and enhance customer experience.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with distributed systems, cloud services, and automation frameworks.
- Experience with troubleshooting complex technical issues and implement resilient solutions.
- Experience with UI (User Interface) development, including building responsive interfaces and integrating front-end components with backend services.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Familiarity with Windows servicing, packaging, or update delivery pipelines.
- Experience with telemetry, monitoring, and performance optimization at scale.
- Familiarity with modern UI (User Interface) frameworks (e.g., Fluent, React, Angular, or similar) and accessibility best practices.
