Network Engineer – Data Center Operations

About the Role
Astreya is looking for a Network Engineer to join our growing team supporting one of our global technology clients. In this role, you’ll be the first line of defense for network monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution across a complex data center environment. You’ll help ensure the stability, performance, and reliability of critical network infrastructure through proactive monitoring and structured ticket management.
What You’ll Do
- Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
- Monitor, analyze, and resolve incidents in a data center network, including routing and switching devices.
- Detect and diagnose network faults, coordinate with smart hands teams, vendors, and global support teams to restore service quickly.
- Incident Response & Ticket Management:
- Manage alerts and incidents within SLAs using tools like ServiceNow or Jira.
- Track, document, and communicate resolution steps while escalating critical events as needed.
- Maintain clear, accurate logs and ensure seamless cross-team coordination.
- Process Optimization & Documentation:
- Follow and refine MOPs/SOPs to ensure operational excellence.
- Support deployment and change activities, document network changes, and manage RMA and inventory processes.
- Automation & Continuous Improvement:
- Help build monitoring dashboards and alerts.
- Identify automation opportunities using scripting (Python, C, or C++ preferred).
- Recommend improvements to tools, workflows, and best practices.
What You’ll Bring
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, routing, switching).
- Experience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, or similar).
- Familiarity with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.).
- Basic CLI experience for routers and switches a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Education & Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in IT, Networking, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–2 years in a technical support, help desk, or NOC role preferred.
- Certifications (Preferred): CCNA, CompTIA Network+
