Summary:

Expertise in designing visually appealing, interactive, user-friendly, performance optimized, scalable, and robust BI dashboards using Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Mobile, aligned with industry best practices in data visualization. Hands-on in working on Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Bricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power Automate, Power Apps and similar technologies/reporting tools.

The role involves developing scalable data pipelines, driving data harmonization, optimizing data processing and storage, deploying machine learning models, and leveraging predictive analytics to improve operational efficiency. It requires deep expertise in data warehousing, ETL processes, data modeling, and data visualization, along with strong analytical and communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain data pipelines/schedules for near real-time data ingestion, cleaning, preprocessing, and wrangling raw data into usable formats for analysis.
• Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Proficiency in Power BI features such as slicers, filters, bookmarks, drill-through, tooltips, hierarchical navigation, conditional formatting, AI visuals, and custom visuals.
• Solid understanding of data modeling – Star, Snowflake, ETL processes, and BI best practices.
• Design efficient table relationships for effective querying and handling large datasets with optimized memory usage.
• Proficiency in writing, debugging, and optimizing advanced DAX formulas for measures, calculated columns, and KPIs.
• Expertise in time-based calculations (YTD, QTD, MTD, previous periods), cumulative/rolling totals, and dynamic aggregations.
• Skilled in using Power Query (M Language) for data cleaning, transformation, appending, merging, and reshaping data.
• Experience connecting Power BI to various data sources, including SQL databases, cloud platforms, APIs, and flat files (SQL Server, Azure Synapse SQL, Azure Data Lake, SharePoint, Excel, APIs, CSV, Oracle, SAP, PostgreSQL, JSON).
• Expertise in Direct Query, Import, and Composite models for optimal performance and use-case requirements.
• Proficiency in integrating Power BI with Power Automate, Power Apps, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Publish, share, and manage reports via Power BI Service, including scheduling data refreshes and configuring on-premises data gateways.
• Implement row-level security (RLS), page-level security (PLS), object-level security (OLS), and manage workspace permissions.
• Skilled in developing and managing paginated reports and dashboards.
• Optimize large datasets and reports by reducing cardinality, pre-aggregating data, implementing incremental refresh, and partitioning tables (horizontal and vertical) to enhance performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand data requirements, build scalable solutions, and present insights effectively through dashboards/reports.
• Review software design, change specifications, and plans against contractual and/or process requirements.
• Verify reporting platform upgrades and patches before production rollouts.
• Support change requests and UAT with business users on projects and change initiatives.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to collaborate on the design and implementation of data-related projects.

Information Security Management System (ISMS)

• Safeguard Gulftainer Information as per Information Protection Requirement.
• Ensure data security, compliance, and system reliability in all implementations.
• Perform the IT compliance monitoring and improvement activities to ensure compliance both with internal security policies etc., and applicable laws and regulations.
• Participate and support information security awareness, training, and educational activities.
• Participate and support information security risk assessments and controls selection activities.
• Participate and support an Information security audit and remediation.
• Participate and support relating to contingency planning, business continuity management and IT disaster recovery in conjunction with relevant functions and third parties.
• Comply with IT Policies (Governance and IT Security) and comply with all applicable system and security controls /Clause, and LAWs.
• Report an Information Security incident in a timely manner and take action per management direction.

Qualification:

Educational Background

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.

Related Work Experience

• Minimum of 4-6 years, preferably in Ports & Logistics, Supply Chain, and/or similar Enterprise Applications.
• Experience with CargoWise, Transport, Warehousing, Terminal Operating Systems, IoT is a plus.

Technical Qualification / Certification

• Programming – Power BI (or similar tools), DAX, M-Query, R, Python.
• Cloud & DevOps - AWS, Azure [Synapse, Data Factory, Data Bricks, Power Automate, Power Apps], GCP, CI/CD Pipelines.
• Data Engineering - Oracle, MySQL, NoSQ, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric
• Preferred – TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Regression, Classification, Clustering. Kafka

Certifications (Preferred)

• Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate (Power BI).
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or Azure Data Engineer Associate.
• Microsoft Power Platform App Maker Associate.
