THE ROLE
Glimmer is looking for a talented full stack developer to join our engineering team based in Austin, Texas. You will work on a small, highly experienced engineering team building an exciting product in a growing market that is used worldwide. We have an office located in South Austin where we meet one day each week. We work remotely the remainder of the week.
We are serious about quality web engineering, but we offer a relaxed and flexible work environment. We take an outcomes-based view of success, and we're very open to the manner in which we get there.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the product development process (planning, documentation, review)
- Code modern, accessible UIs using a frontend framework called Ember.js
- Code new features and make architectural improvements on both our back end Laravel framework and supporting services in Node.js
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across various programming languages and technologies
- Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality code and maintainable systems.
- Ship quality code, backed by QA and production monitoring
- Accurately estimate your time, and revise estimates promptly when things change
- Communicate closely with the team, stakeholders, and customers
- Participate in our on-call rotation for serious outages defined in SLAs
GOOD FIT
- 3-7 years full stack web development experience, preferably in a startup environment
- Experience with Laravel/PHP
- Experience developing SPAs (React, Ember.js, Vue, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes
- Great communication skills
- Ability to work on a small engineering team and own large tasks
- Excellent at problem-solving and root analysis
- Strong knowledge of SQL, ETL and data theory
- Comfortable working in a Linux network environment
- Experience working with a team in an Agile/Scrum development process
NICE TO HAVE
- A degree in Computer Science or similar
- Experience implementing a UX from a Figma design
- Previous work at a startup or fast paced environment
