Digital Technology Solutions designs and builds innovative and intuitive digital products to satisfy the complex requirements of our clients.

The UX Design Intern will lead by example to set a high bar for design, helping UX Product Designers to drive innovation and inspire others to continually improve the design system and the overall customer digital experience across all areas of our business

We are seeking a creative UX Design Intern for a 6-month paid internship starting in January 2026. The ideal candidate will help current UX Product Designers to shape and drive the UX design system.

Requirements

At Control Risks you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our products, working closely with UX Product Designers and to help develop an internal design system in a thriving industry.

What You'll Do:

  • Support the creation and refinement of UI components, patterns, and guidelines within the design system.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to ensure components are usable, accessible, and consistent across products.
  • Contribute to design system documentation (usage guidelines, states, best practices)
  • Test and review component usability in real product contexts
  • Explore and propose improvements to enhance scalability, accessibility and efficiency
  • Audit and clean up design tokens (colours, spacing, typography) to ensure consistency across the system
  • Work with engineers to improve design-to-code parity, and flag inconsistencies between Figma and front-end implementation
  • Assist in maintaining the design system library and project folder structure in Figma, ensuring they are logically organised and easily accessible.

While much of the role will be focused on the design system, other tasks might include:

  • Producing low-fi sketches, wireframes, process flows, site maps, and pixel-perfect visual designs.
  • Tackling design problems autonomously while fostering ongoing collaboration.
  • Producing prototypes to support usability testing and discussions.
  • Presenting and articulating design ideas to cross-functional teams, and writing clear specifications for developers.
  • Driving the design process in collaboration with UX Product Designers.
  • Carry-out stakeholder research to understand client needs, run user tests and track digital trends, looking for ways to improve products.

Who You Are:

  • Excellent with Figma.
  • Proficient and practical experience of Microsoft Office tools.
  • A diverse portfolio that showcases design principles for complex digital platforms, demonstrating the process of design decisions and their rational.
  • Keen eye for detail and excellent proof-reading skills.
  • Strong interaction design, prototyping skills and proficiency in prototyping tools.
  • Ability to present confidently and with enthusiasm to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Experience with user research, quantitative and qualitative, to find usability problem areas and opportunities for improvement.
  • Knowledge of design methodologies, techniques and tools.
  • Ability to plan your work and share progress.
  • Able to design for systems, not for screens in isolation - understanding that systems are complex even when they look simple.
  • Detail oriented but can zoom out for bigger picture thinking.
  • Able to travel to the office (Monument, London) 2 to 3 times every week.
  • Fluent in English.
