A high-profile Defence program is seeking a Software Integration Developer to join their multi-disciplinary engineering team in Canberra. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of software development and infrastructure engineering, building complex Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI) environments that underpin critical national capabilities.
đź”§ Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement software components as part of an Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) project
- Integrate multiple third-party software and hardware systems into a unified SDI platform
- Collaborate with engineers and architects to plan and deliver secure, scalable solutions
- Apply test-driven development (TDD) and CI/CD practices using GitLab
- Develop and extend Ansible modules to automate network and infrastructure tasks
- Produce clear, detailed documentation for software, systems, and integration processes
- Troubleshoot complex integration issues and contribute to continuous improvement
✅ What You’ll Need:
- 4+ years’ Python development experience
- Strong background in Ansible, including module development and automation workflows
- Hands-on experience with network device management
- Familiarity with software-defined infrastructure and IaC principles
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, TDD, and collaborative code review
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Current NV1 clearance minimum — NV2 or PV preferred

- Agile delivery experience
- Network automation (e.g. Ansible Network)
- Cloud exposure (AWS or similar)
- Experience working in secure government or Defence environments
