We have an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is energetic and enthusiastic to join the Customer Engagement Technology team within Consumer Technology as a full stack engineer as part of our new staff digital platform. This is a Sydney based hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in the office.

What’s the role?

The Customer Engagement team is responsible for owning and delivering changes for all our customer facing staff across sales and servicing. You’ll be part of our Digital Banker squads working on UNITE—a multi-year, multi-billion dollar transformation program simplifying staff experiences and enhancing customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a cross-functional Agile team to deliver high-quality products for the Westpac Digital Banker platform
  • Write clean, maintainable code using industry best practices
  • Design REST APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger standards
  • Reuse shared components and open-source tools to improve efficiency
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical and service issues
  • Ensure code security by running regular NPM audits and SONAR scans
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and team collaboration activities
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to other engineers
  • Support graduate and intern development programs
  • Contribute to engineering guilds and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the development community

What do I need?

  • Proven experience and results as a Full Stack Developer, with a focus on customer-facing enterprise-level desktop and mobile applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Node.js, React (Redux), JavaScript, and integrating cloud services (SaaS).
  • Passion for delivering high-quality customer experiences and writing performant, reusable, and scalable code.
  • Solid understanding of application architecture design patterns and development best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with development tools such as Git, Bitbucket, PowerShell, SonarQube, etc.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools like Bamboo, Jenkins, Ansible, and GitHub.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Test-Driven Development and testing automation frameworks.
  • Exposure to cloud-native technologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
