The Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers (DLGWV) is at the forefront of driving sustainable growth across Queensland. With over 700 dedicated professionals across Brisbane and regional offices, we work tirelessly to ensure that Queensland's communities, businesses, and water resources thrive.

As the HR Officer, you will work collaboratively with staff and managers across the department providing HR advice, support, solutions and services on a broad range of human resources activities. You will work as part of the HR Operations team.

Some of the key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with work colleagues, senior management, internal and external clients, valuing diversity and treating people with respect and dignity.
  • Ensure human resource activities align with policy and guidelines, and support achievement of business objectives.
  • Research innovative human resource practices, including performing research and analysis using human resource information and systems, identifying issues and trends and escalating for management team consideration.
  • Contribute to and support the HR operations team processes, activities and deliverables.
  • Support and facilitate workforce initiatives approved by the management team.


Whilst there are no mandatory requirements for this position, tertiary qualifications in HR would be desirable, as would experience in the human resources field.
