The IT Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of Technology and Business initiatives providing leadership in both project execution and technical problem solving. This role requires expertise in managing complex IT projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring that all solutions align with both IT and Organisational strategies. Responsibilities include guiding teams through all project phases, managing project timelines, engaging with senior stakeholders, and reporting to the IT Program Control Group to achieve Council objectives.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Plan and manage technology projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Support business case creation, determine performance baselines, define project objectives, deliverables, milestones, and timelines in collaboration with sponsor and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, resource allocation, and budgets to ensure successful implementation.
  • Lead project meetings with stakeholders to gather requirements, address concerns, and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all project-related communications and updates.
  • Identify project risks and challenges early, developing mitigation strategies and ensuring issues are addressed promptly.
  • Manage change by facilitating smooth transitions, ensuring team members are trained and prepared for new processes or systems.
  • After project implementation, monitor the performance of newly optimized processes to ensure they meet business objectives.
  • As directed by the Technology and Digital Solutions Lead, investigate technology related issues with an aim to identify root cause and determine options for resolution with recommendation(s).

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Project Management: Experience managing multiple projects concurrently from initiation through completion, with a strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Scrum). Prince2 certification highly desirable.
  • Project Management Software: Proficiency in tools like MS Project, JIRA, Confluence or Asana to track project progress and manage resources.
  • Proven ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to gather requirements, resolve conflicts, and ensure project success.
  • Ability to resolve specialist problems and identify customer/stakeholder needs and expectations, decide the appropriate action and respond accordingly including the ability to develop relationships and collaborate with colleagues both internal and external to the organisation.
  • Highly developed skills in oral and written communication which facilitate effective relationships with management, and internal customers.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in the analysis of service planning and business requirements to identify service improvements.
  • Demonstration experience in the progressive improvement of corporate applications and databases such as TechnologyOne Property & Rating and Financials, HP Content Manager (TRIM), Health Manager, or Oracle CRM applications would be advantageous
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar or related role within a complex organisation delivering a range of IT and Business projects.

Required Certifications & Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field including project management, information systems, business improvement, statistics, economics, or finance.
  • Formal training/certification in Project Management methodologies like Prince2, Agile.
