We are recruiting on behalf of our client, Deutsche Bank, for a Java Team Lead to join the team working on Autobahn, the bank’s award-winning digital platform for Corporate & Investment Banking, used by over 200,000 internal and external users globally.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical skills with leadership experience. You will take ownership of backend components, drive architectural decisions, mentor the team, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality, scalable services within a global environment.
About the Team
Autobahn is a multi-channel platform (Desktop, Web, Mobile, IM, API) recognized as a leader in the industry. It brings together diverse technologies (Java/Kotlin, JS/React, Swift, .NET) under a unified vision. Our team operates in an Agile delivery model and embraces a modern engineering culture with strong focus on quality, automation and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of backend engineers in designing and developing microservices using Java (11/17) and Kotlin.
- Own the full software development lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Actively contribute to architectural discussions and platform improvements.
- Work closely with Product Owners, UX, QA, and other global teams to deliver features end-to-end.
- Guide and mentor junior/mid-level developers, ensuring adherence to best practices in coding and DevOps.
Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience in backend development, with deep expertise in the Java ecosystem.
- Previous experience as a Team Lead, Technical Lead, or similar leadership role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices architecture, and multithreading/concurrency.
- Familiarity with Kotlin is a strong plus.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, TeamCity), and build tools (Maven, Gradle).
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in distributed teams.
