HB Studios is Atlantic Canada's largest and most successful independent video game developer. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Audio Engineer to join our team of developers, creators, and fans who are passionate about the art and process involved in video game development.
In this role, you will collaborate with audio designers and gameplay programmers to bridge the gap between audio design and engineering, ensuring seamless integration of speech, sound effects, and music into our game engine.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and implementation of audio technologies and tools.
- Contribute to audio implementation within Unity & audio middleware.
- Collaborate with audio designers to translate creative vision into technical implementation.
- Collaborate with gameplay programmers to integrate game mechanics with audio systems.
- Build and maintain audio asset pipelines for efficient content delivery.
- Develop custom tools and scripts to streamline audio implementation workflows and debugging.
- Debug and resolve audio implementation issues across various build environments.
- Create and maintain clear documentation for engineers and designers.
- Keep current on technological developments and advancements in the game industry.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in game audio engineering or similar technical role.
- Strong understanding of theoretical and practical audio engineering principles & techniques.
- Strong proficiency with C# scripting.
- Experience with Unity development.
- Experience with Audiokinetic's Wwise tools and libraries.
- Experience working with version control systems (Perforce, Git).
- Experience with database management.
- Ability to research, analyze, and optimize code to meet performance requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong verbal and written communication.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and solve complex problems independently.
- A dedicated work ethic and commitment to excellence.
- Demonstrated initiative in self-guided learning.
- Position based in Nova Scotia
- Willingness to relocate to Nova Scotia is preferred
- Relocation support may be available for the right candidate

- Experience with field and studio recording sessions.
- Experience with REAPER and ReaScript API.
