About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer (SDE III) to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate should have deep technical expertise in Golang or Python and a proven ability to build and scale large backend systems. This role offers the opportunity to own end-to-end backend architecture, contribute to product innovation, and mentor junior engineers within a fast-paced, impact-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems using Golang or Python.
• Build scalable, secure, and high-performing APIs and microservices for core Unacademy products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams — Product, Frontend, DevOps — to deliver seamless experiences.
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce engineering best practices across the team.
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify bottlenecks, and drive effective solutions.
• Take ownership of architecture decisions and drive continuous improvement in system design.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers to improve technical depth and delivery quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 4–7 years of professional experience in backend development.
• Proficiency in Golang or Python (mandatory) — with experience in building large-scale applications.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other relational/NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools.
• Excellent understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other message brokers.
• Exposure to fast-paced product or startup environments.
